Spreading Education Through Multiple Centres
UPAY has successfully expanded its presence across India with many learning centres. Currently, it is active in Delhi, Pune, Nagpur, Mouda, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Gadarwara, Kolkata, Meghalaya (Garo Hills) and most recently in Mumbai. Each centre focuses on bringing children out of poverty cycles by replacing begging bowls with books. With this new beginning in Mumbai, UPAY is ready to reach more underprivileged children and families in need of quality education and guidance. This makes it one of the most promising NGO in Mumbai for Education today and is also known as the best NGO in Delhi.
Footpath Shala: Turning Streets into Classrooms
One of UPAY’s most inspiring programs is Footpath Shala, where open spaces and footpaths are turned into classrooms for street children. The idea is simple yet powerful: every child deserves education, whether they can afford school or not.
Key highlights of Footpath Shala:
- Offers free education to street children
- Focuses on basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills
- Helps reduce child begging in cities
- Currently running across multiple UPAY centres, including Mumbai
Reach & Teach: Taking Learning to Rural Communities
In rural parts of India, where schools and resources are often missing, UPAY runs the Reach & Teach program. Through this initiative, the organisation connects with rural children and ensures they do not miss out on basic learning.
This makes UPAY a trusted Education NGO in India because it:
- Brings teachers and resources to underserved villages
- Provides structured lessons for long-term learning
- Reduces school dropout rates in rural areas
Library: Encouraging Higher Studies
The students passing out from UPAY were not taking up higher studies due to a lack of resources. The prime reason cited by many was the unavailability of a learning space and electricity. With the thought of encouraging the youth in under-resourced localities to pursue higher education, community learning spaces were established in 2018.
Key features of UPAY Libraries:
- Specially developed in villages and slums to provide structured infrastructure
- 3 community libraries supporting more than 500 young learners
- Students preparing for competitive exams and higher education
- Guest lectures and career counselling sessions by industry leaders
Sabka Saamaan: Empowering Rural Women Economically
UPAY believes that education and empowerment must go hand in hand. Through its Sabka Saamaan platform, the NGO supports rural women by giving them a way to sell handmade products online.
This program contributes to women empowerment in rural areas by:
- Giving women financial independence
- Promoting local skills and crafts
- Increasing household stability and income
A Strong NGO for Children and Free Education
At its heart, UPAY is a strong NGO for Children and an effective NGO for Free Education. From Mumbai’s footpaths to villages in Mouda and from the streets of Delhi to the hills of Meghalaya, it is spreading light where darkness once prevailed. Thousands of children are now attending classes, learning new skills, and dreaming of once impossible careers.
